FIRST SHOT WITH A MINOLTA LEICA-M 40MM F/2

I purchsased this little gem of a lens a couple days ago and it duly arrived this morning. Via a K&F Concept Leica-M to Nikon Z adapter it was duly mounted on the Nikon Z6 today for a short trip to the beach to meet some friends.

My firend’s son, young Max, was a great model and helped to show what this lens is capable of. This shot was actually a tad under-exposed as I battled with the sun, clouds and manual everything and kept forgetting to adjust the shutter speed every time the conditions and light changed. (Below is a slightly different and more dramatic take on the post processing)

The glass in this lens looks superb and gives a very “Leica-like” rendition of skin and other details. It’s not without it’s negatives, though. The lens is incredibly small and using the aperture and focus rings is fairly cumbersome and everything is easily knocked slightly off. I’m sure I’ll get used to it after  cutting my teeth many years ago with Summicrons and a Leica M6TTL but it’ll surely take a few more outings before my brain knows where everything is again. You know what, though? I can live with a bit of fumbling for these kind of results, even from my first set of precarious results!
