Nippon Kogaku NIKKOR-S Auto 50m F/1.4 TEST SHOTS

I took my son to shoot a few frames down at the East Cowes seafront today. Looking through the lens bag I decided to give the Nippon Kogaku NIKKOR-S Auto 50m F/1.4 a test on the new Nikon Z6. Below are a few sample shots, all manually “everything” of course as this is an old vintage lens and it can’t send any info to the camera whatsoever. The lens seems sharp enough and whilst not blisteringly sharp like a modern Nikon lens, that’s not why we use these lenses. There’s a certain “film feel” to the image quality that transcends sharpness and affords us something we just can’t get from either modern lenses or post processing.
